Virginia Gardner

Art in Mosaic, in Charlottesville, Virginia

Origin, Virginia Gardner, Charlottesville, Virginia, mosaic, mixed media, snowflake obsidian, peridot, tourmaline, heulandite

Origin*
snowflake obsidian, black tourmaline, peridot, heulandite, cut china; 12" x 10"

Origin” is "the beginning".

Heulandite is the central focus of the piece and represents our personal search for past lives.  It is nestled in a bed of Peridot, which provides energy for the journey.  Snowflake Obsidian is a good meditation stone, and is thought to clear the way for meaningful discoveries.  The Black Tourmaline is considered a purification stone, and so it clears the way for realization.

As with other works which focus on natural materials, I combine specific stones and crystals to create interesting, visually well-designed pieces that also consider the power and integrity of the materials, for a harmonious whole.
